Ford and Alexa: Together at Last!

Many Lexingtonians enjoy the perks of owning an Amazon Echo: from home automation to music streaming, it’s made our lives easier. At Paul Miller Ford, we’re excited to share that Amazon Alexa can integrate with your Ford vehicle. Your device may be sitting at home, but with the Ford+Alexa SYNC AppLink, Alexa can join you on the road. To connect your Alexa to your Ford vehicle, follow these simple steps:

1. Download the current version of Ford+Alexa through your smartphone’s marketplace

2. Sign into Ford+Alexa using your Amazon username and password, then agree to the terms and conditions.

3. Turn on your ignition.
4. Disable Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Alexa can’t run simultaneously witih CarPlay or Android Auto.
• CarPlay: Settings > Apple CarPlay Preferences > Disable
• Android Auto: Settings > Android Auto Preferences > Disable

5. Connect the phone to SYNC’s AppLink. Unsure which version of SYNC you have? Click here.
• iPhones connect to AppLink via USB
• Android devices connect to AppLink via Bluetooth

6. Ensure mobile apps are enabled, then agree to the terms and conditions.
• Go to Settings > Mobile Apps > Enable Mobile Apps > On

7. Now you’re ready to use Ford+Alexa with AppLink. Press Apps on the feature bar, then select Ford+Alexa. If the app doesn’t appear, make sure it’s running on your phone.

8. To get started, simply say “Alexa.”

From your vehicle, you’ll be able to interact with Alexa just as you do at home. You can update your shopping list, check the Kentucky basketball score, or reset your thermostat—all while enjoying your Ford.
